Financial Peace at Providence

Do you know that the Bible mentions money over 800 times?  Rich men trying to get into heaven, poor widows, tax collectors . . . these and similar situations may sound familiar to many of us; especially when credit card debts, mortgage, utility bills and other needs for money all clamber to be paid. Are you ever worried about finances?  Do you have six months expenses in reserve for emergencies?  How about college expenses? Will retirement savings be adequate?  Want to give more generously?

If any of these or similar financial matters are a concern, you should register for Providence’s presentation of the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University for 13 weeks on Tuesdays 6:30-8:30, starting September 13, 2011.  The 13 topics include Super Saving, Dumping Debt, From Fruition to Tuition, Real Estate and Mortgages, and The Great Misunderstanding which emphasizes the financial peace that comes when you are debt-free and able to give generously of God’s bounty to persons in need.

FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) about Financial Peace University

When and where are classes?
Tuesdays 6:30 – 8:30 PM starting September 13, 2011 for 13 weeks in the Mills Building Choir Room

Is there child care?
Yes, if you register and ask for it in advance.  The facility is in the same area as class.

How large are the classes?
We will not limit participation.  After the DVD part of class we break into small discussion groups of 8-10 family units.  Invite your non-Providence friends.

What is a family unit?
A family unit may be a single person, married or engaged couple, or a family including teens living at home.  Only one set of materials is needed for each family unit.   The winter class had seven retired couples in addition to a dozen singles and families with teens.  All say they benefitted highly.

How much does it cost?
The membership materials cost $100.  The materials are very helpful and include a hardbound workbook, audio library of each class, envelope system, Financial Peace Revisited book and more.  If that is too much to pay at once, we can arrange for you to pay $10 at each of the first ten classes you promise to attend.

Is there an opportunity to look over the materials?
We will conduct free previews on Sunday, September 11, in Fellowship Hall after the 10 AM Contemporary and 11 AM Traditional Services. You can see samples at www.DaveRamsey.com.   If you are still not sure, you can come to the first class on Tuesday, September 13, at 6:30 PM in the Choir Room at no charge.  However, that would mean your materials will not arrive until a week or two after you register and pay, so you might not have the helpful materials to start.

What happens if I have to miss a class?
Try hard to attend all, but if you must miss you can view one class online in the member’s resource center.  We can often lend you the class DVD to review at home.

How do I register?
Come to the church office or phone (843-843-5673) or email (Providencehh@hargray.com) or use www.CauseGodJoy.com, or even snail mail the names of participants and if you need child care.  If you want to use a credit or debit card to pay, we recommend for security that you convey those numbers directly to the office in person or over the phone.

How do I get the materials?
We will have an initial supply of membership materials, which you can get at the office when you register, or at the first class.  After that supply is used, we will order your membership materials, which should arrive in a week and will be available at the next class after they arrive.
