    Session Notes

    Clerk’s Corner

    * The 2017 Church Statistical Report sent to Charleston Atlantic Presbytery (CAP) was shared with Session members and is available to any member desiring to see it. Current membership entitles Providence to one voting delegate at CAP.

    * New members recognized on Sunday May 6, 2018 included: Letter of Transfer as Affiliate member: Len Micharlsen; Letter of Transfer: Randall & Jill Clark; Reaffirmation of Faith: Charlie & Lynne Dayton, Joel & Lila Killoran, Helen Rigsbee, Richard (Bruce) & Sue Simpson, and May Slawson.

    * The resignation of Cynda Schuttera from the position of interim Director of Children’s Ministries was accepted effective June 17, 2018. Members expressed thanks for her service during this period of transition.

    * Rachel Ward has been hired as the Interim Director of Discipleship. She will work 20 hours/week for a period of 9 to 15 months, which will allow for evaluation of staffing for the future. Rachel has a Doctor of Clinical Psychology and a Masters of Theology.

    * Session approved the participation of Providence Presbyterian Church in the joint effort with St. Luke’s Church and St. Andrews United Methodist Church in support of Family Promise. Family Promise provides housing and meals for four families who are in need while they strive to become self-sufficient. Volunteers will be needed for one week in August and in December and will receive training. If interested in participating contact a member of the Mission Committee.

    * Receipts for the first quarter of $172,946 with expenses totaling $173,602 left a deficit of $658. Members are encouraged to remember their tithes and contributions during the summer as the fiscal needs of the church do not go on vacation.

    * PUPS has allocated funds to Mills Building walkway to allow for the replacement of the concrete paver walkway from the parking lot toward the Mills Building with a concrete walk and renovation of the Mills Building walkway to make it ADA accessible.

    * Congratulations are offered to Morgan Smith and Raechel Schroeder on their graduation from high school.

    * Session discussion is focusing on a review of the year to date and identifying action needed for the remainder of the year. The opportunity of the East Campus completion will be a focus for future discussion. Committee chairs were encouraged to identify opportunities for their ministry to be involved. Providence members are encouraged to contact any session member with suggestions
