Endowment Committee

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him would not perish, but would have eternal life.”  Legacy gifts to the Endowment Fund help make a difference in lives that follow ours.  The vision that Providence has for a better world can be supported long after our lifetimes.   Our Providence Presbyterian Endowment Fund money is permanently managed so that only the income can be used to support ministries and special projects beyond the operating budget.

There are many ways a person can contribute to the Endowment Fund.  Most popular is a simple bequest in your will or estate plan.  There are also tax-advantaged opportunities for annuities, life insurance, charitable trusts, gifts of real estate or other assets, and of course cash.  We can put you in touch with financial and legal advisors who can help you help Providence while you help yourself.

Endowment funds provided for the “Gateway to the Future” roadway, grading and lighting that permits safe passage for cars and people across our campus.  Chancel enhancements and mission projects are in our future.  We hope that those of you, who have not yet put the Providence Presbyterian Endowment Fund in your will, will do so, so that your legacy will live after you go to your eternal reward.

Friends of the Future is established to bring together kindred spirits who believe in providing for Providence long term.  Members include people who have included Providence in their legacy giving (or will do so) or who have made a direct contribution to the Endowment Fund.  We meet occasionally for fun and fellowship as well as for education and information about ways to help Providence and at the same time help ourselves.

Providence has two endowment funds to provide for the long-term enhancement of worship. The Non-Permanent Special Purpose Fund is intended to provide money for designated purposes, and will be entirely used for that purpose.  An example is the provision of the estate of Wade Cloyd plus contributions from friends, to procure and install the carillon on campus.

The Permanent Fund Account keeps the principal as part of the fund, and distributes net returns on recommendation of the Endowment Committee and by Session.  The funds must be used to expand and enrich the ministry of the Church, and may not be used to fund the operating budget of the church.
