| | | Sally Lawrence Fellowship slawrence56@hargray.com
A native of Rome, Georgia, Sally grew up in a warm, loving family with lots and lots of cousins. After graduating from Clemson University, she headed to Hilton Head for one summer before heading out into the world and seeking a "real" job.
Twenty-seven years later she is still on Hilton Head. While the Episcopal Church provided Sandy with a wonderful foundation for her faith, she somehow did not "hear" the gospel until 1986. That fall she and her husband were invited to The Seabrook to a new church. That was the beginning of her journey.
"From that moment on I began to grow in my relationship with Christ and I accepted Him as my Lord and Savior. That new church was Providence Presbyterian. Dr. Mills and the Holy Spirit opened my heart to the gospel. I have continued to grow in my faith through church, Sunday school, the example and love of fellow Christians at Providence and Community Bible Study."
At Providence, Sally has helped in the nursery, taught Sunday school, assisted with Vacation Bible School, taught a LOGOS 5th grade class, helped with Youth Group, led children's church and served on an Associate Pastor Search Committee.
Sally and her husband Danny met on Hilton Head and have been married for 22 years. They have two wonderful children: Danny, who is 20 years old and Sarah (known as Sissy to many at Providence) who is 17 years old.
"I am privileged to have this opportunity to serve God in this way. May my actions and words be pleasing to Him." |

They have four children, twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren! Elaine was ordained an Elder in the in the mid 1970s. “I was raised in the church, and active, so it was a shock to discover, in my late thirties, that full repentance and a personal relationship with Christ was necessary for salvation (not merely church membership)! I have been challenged to do all I can to present the Gospel to those who don't know Jesus, both outside and inside the church. To that end I have taught Sunday School and guided Youth Groups. For the past thirty years I have led Bible studies in churches and through Christian Women's Club.” Here at Providence, Elaine is active in the choir, and has just completed Stephen Ministry Training.
